Büyükelçinin Mesajı

I have the distinct privilege of serving as Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Seoul since the beginning of 2014.

As two brotherly countries, Turkey and Korea have always maintained excellent relations since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 1957. Turkey, as a member of the free world, stood by the Republic of Korea during the difficult times of the Korean War when it was attacked by the North. The participation of the Turkish troops in the Korean War has forged a unique “blood brotherhood”.

The Turkish people always take pride in the fact that our soldiers fought in the Korean War defending the independence, democracy and freedoms of the Korean people. We are pleased by the fact that our sacrifices did not go in vain. Today, we have a vibrant, developed Republic of Korea. We also appreciate that Turkey's sacrifices during the war have never been forgotten by the noble people of Korea.

Based on such unique foundations, relations between Turkey and Korea have flourished and further matured. Today, Turkey and Korea, regional powers in their own rights, are “strategic partners". We have the broadest Free Trade Agreement that Turkey ever signed with another nation. Economic, cultural and social contacts are rapidly increasing between our countries. As close friends tested in time, Turkey and Korea are working together for finding solutions to global challenges within international organizations such as the UN, OECD, G20 and MIKTA.

I strongly believe that the future holds optimism for our cooperation and solidarity with Korea. I have no doubt that Turkey and Korea will continue to collaborate in many fields to support each other for further development and prosperity. They will also continue to contribute, in their rightful means to the international efforts for promoting peace and stability in their regions and beyond. I have all the confidence in the hardworking peoples of both countries to this end.
